I am currently supporting twenty-five Year 9 students in their development of Literacy. With government funding from the One-to-One Tuition Scheme, I deliver concentrated lessons on how to vary syntax; practice spelling strategies; rectify tense use and improve on ones range of lexicon for Years 7, 8 and 9. As well as the 1:1, I support five Year 11 students, through private tuition, in GCSE English Language (through both AQA Spec B and the WJEC board). Within this role, I empower these tutees to revise specific variants of punctuation and grammar such as parenthetic comma use; modal verbs; varying discourse markers and utilising sophisticated punctuation such colons and semi-colons. Under my tutelage, these pupils will also be learning how to analyse non-fiction texts (through my exploration of journalist bias writing) and study contemporary multicultural poetry; anything from Derek Walcott to John Agard.
