A Japanese native speaker with a good command of English, I am a postdoctoral researcher based in Cambridge. Since the autumn of 2001, I have given weekly individual tutorials for eight English people, on spoken and written Japanese. One of these people was a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages at the University of Cambridge. I tutored her in stylistic features of Japanese poetry which she was comparing with those of French poetry.
